In Phoenix

On April 14, the Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), Visit Phoenix joined forces with the advocacy coalition Meetings Mean Business (MMB) and its national co-chair, Richard Harper, to showcase the real impact that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on people, business and communities across the globe. In collaboration with Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, the Phoenix Convention Center, HelmsBriscoe, and the Arizona Chapters of MPI and HSMAI, Visit Phoenix and the MMB coalition demonstrated the critical role the meetings industry plays in driving positive outcomes for Greater Phoenix’s economy. “Meetings and conventions are critical to the health of Arizona’s visitors industry, which helps power the state’s economy and keeps taxes lower for every citizen,” said Steve Moore, president & CEO of Visit Phoenix and a founding member of the MMB coalition in 2009. “Meetings and conventions strengthen communities, create and sustain jobs, and bring knowledge-industry leaders to our front door for further economic-development opportunities.”
